Develop the skills you need to create a work of art from a nude model. Poses will include short, two-minute gestural drawings, as well as longer poses ranging from twenty minutes up to two hours in length. Bring a variety of supplies, an open mind, and a large dose of your imagination! Our class will discuss how experimental mixed media artwork requires a new way of thinking about what art is and how the creative process uses anything and everything. We will explore the creativity of combining several different materials and mediums within each work, discovering that most any material may be used to create compelling experimental artwork! This class will instruct students to develop paintings that address the human figure in relationship to its immediate environment. Students will study artists such as Vermeer, Degas, Sargent, Matisse, and Freud to understand how the artist incorporated the human figure within different environments.
