CERAMICS

Ceramics + Pottery Newcomers - Experienced

All skill levels are welcome. Studio 3. Adults + Grades 10-12.

10-week classes are back! In this invigorating course, beginner students learn basic wheel-throwing and hand-building ceramic techniques used to create basic pottery forms such as mugs, bowls, and dishes. Experienced students can deepen their pottery knowledge and evolve their skills through various surface designs, forms, and glazing combinations using our new glazes. No class on Monday, January 20 or Monday, February 17.

Learn to draw from scratch, or delve deeper into your skills in this fun course! Learn about various drawing tools and techniques such as shading, perspective, and portraiture while gaining (or further developing) skills and confidence. Learn to illustrate animals through observation and artistic interpretation. The session covers animal anatomy, movement, and proportions, with sketching practice from reference images or live models. You'll focus on capturing details like fur, feathers, and expressions. Guided demonstrations will help you create a finished illustration that reflects your style. Improve your observational skills, anatomy knowledge, and ability to capture texture and form. This class will introduce the fundamentals of visual storytelling and experiment with creative self-expression through traditional illustration. In this class, students will learn how to take their drawings to the next level by establishing a narrative to their work that conveys emotion and message. Numerous illustration categories will be explored such as picture books, editorials, portraiture, character design, and more! All skill levels are welcome; beginners are encouraged! MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE

Do you have old drawings, art studies, or paintings you don’t know what to do with? In this mixed media collage course, you'll learn how to transform those pieces into new works of art. We'll explore using old drawings, found paper, magazine cuttings, book pages, and more to create something entirely fresh. You'll start by learning the elements of art and design, incorporating both abstract and representational imagery. We'll work with a variety of mediums to create cohesive, thoughtful collages. A supply list is provided at the time of registration. No class on January 20 and February 17.

Silver Metal Clay Jewelry

All skill levels are welcome. Studio 4. Supplies included. Adults + Grades 10-12.

Explore the fascinating world of silver metal clay in this interesting, all-levels class! This revolutionary product allows you to design using a moldable material made of microscopic particles of fine silver and an organic binder to form a moldable jewelry medium. Once your creation is dried, it is fired in a jewelry kiln; the organic binder burns off, and the silver particles sinter, leaving you with a solid metal piece! All skill levels are welcome. Adult evening courses are open to grades 10-12. Silver materials paid directly to the instructor are estimated at $65.
