Susan Gallagher has been a ceramic artist for 45 years. She studied Biology at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts during the early 1970's. Susan moved to Ohio and worked as a studio potter, selling her work in local galleries. In 1989, Susan went back to school at the Cleveland Institute of Art and graduated with majors in Ceramics and Fiber, with a minor in Sculpture. Since graduating in 1991, she has been an Ohio Arts Council Artist in Residence for ten years, traveling around the state working with children and adults. She loved sharing the wonders of clay and nature during the residencies. Susan then became involved at the Beck Center for the Arts, as Director of the Ceramics Department, then as the Associate Director of the Visual Arts Department and the Beck Center's gallery. Having "retired" from the Beck Center in 2014, wanting to spend more time creating, Susan teaches locally, continues as a studio potter and is now part of Brick Ceramic and Design Studio, in the Waterloo district of Cleveland as well as a new Faculty member at Orange Art Center.
