Jenn Szalkowski is a fused glass artist born and raised in Cleveland, OH. Her love for creating art began at an early age with inspiration from her mother, an artist who ran a home ceramic studio and her father, a musician. Jenn always excelled at anything creative and artistic, with a particular interest in all things 3-dimensional. The act of creating something with your own two hands was something that was exhilarating and inspirational.
She followed her love for creating to Kent State University. While studying at the university she was active in the arts community by running a university art gallery and participating in many local art exhibitions. She earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in glassblowing in 2004. After graduation, she began focusing on fused glass, as a medium that was suitable for home studio production and offered teaching opportunities. She has taught at Steinert Glass School, Ford Motor Company and the Cleveland Art Glass Center. She currently offers classes at the Orange Art Center and her personal studio. The joy of sharing her creative talents with others made teaching a perfect fit and she finds a source of inspiration in her students’ work.
Jenn creates her personal line of fused glass jewelry and home décor at her studio, Night Owl Glass, located in the Screw Factory Artists’ Studio in Lakewood, OH. She offers instruction in fused glass and open studio time for students to work independently. Her work is exhibited at several shops and galleries in northeast Ohio. She participates in various local art shows and enjoys interacting with her cats.
