Friday One Day Workshops
9:30am – 11:30am

NEW! OAC’s Young Artist Fridays offer students with a busy summer schedule a way to find time for an art class- even for just 1 day! Each week students will work with one of our amazing faculty members to create an original work of art from paint, clay or another exciting medium! These classes are a perfect introduction for new students considering full-length OAC classes this fall or for students looking to experiment with new media. 

7/13    PAINTING: LIONS, TIGERS, AND BEARS! 

Get ready to paint your own wild animal in this fun wildlife workshop! Students will be using washable tempera or acrylic paint, depending on age and skill level. All students will learn color mixing techniques and how to use a brush to create texture!

7/20    MASK MAKING

Transform yourself into a new character in this fun mask workshop! Students will assemble a variety of materials into their own mask creation while learning about pattern and form.

7/27    PRINTMAKING: MAKE YOUR OWN GREETING CARDS!

In this class, young artists will explore the techniques of monoprint and relief printmaking as well as alternative processes. Students will look at artworks by artists who use pattern and texture in their work for inspiration.

8/3      PRINTMAKING: CREATE YOUR OWN WRAPPING PAPER!

In this class, students will develop skills in layering, composition and design as they explore the materials and techniques of printmaking! Students will look at artworks by artists who use pattern and texture in their work for inspiration.

8/10    GLASS FUSING with Jennifer Szalkowski

In this class students will create a beautiful piece of fused glass art! Students will be guided through the steps of composition and color selection to create a unique glass tile. All glass artwork will be fired in the kiln at Orange Art Center and students will be able to pick up their finished pieces about two weeks after the class.
