Learn to draw from scratch, or delve deeper into your skills in this fun course! Learn about various drawing tools and techniques such as shading, perspective, and portraiture while gaining ( or further developing) skills and confidence. Drawing is a key foundation skill that will carry throughout your artist journey; get a head start with Drawing 101! A supply list is provided at the time of registration. No class on October 3, November 26, and November 28.

Grow your drawing skills to create more in-depth drawings in this course!  Using the drawing skills procured in Drawing 101, you will embark on an exciting journey of drawing techniques using various drawing media such as pencil, pen, and ink! This class will introduce the fundamentals of visual storytelling and experiment with creative self-expression through traditional illustration. In this class, students will learn how to take their drawings to the next level by establishing a narrative to their work that conveys emotion and message. Numerous illustration categories will be explored such as picture books, editorials, portraiture, character design, and more! All skill levels are welcome; beginners are encouraged! Take the fear out of portraiture this fall season with this mini-introductory course!  Learning some basic, easy techniques students will learn how to draw a simple portrait and learn the grid technique to ensure proper placement and a successful finished portrait. NEW! Introduction to Painting for Beginners

Beginners encouraged! Studio 2. Adults 18+

Experience the thrill of painting with quick-drying, easy-clean-up Acrylics. Two back-to-back 4 week sessions can be taken separately or together as an 8-week course. The course is for beginners or students who need a refresher. We will cover painting basics and techniques as well as materials, color mixing, and composition. Working from monochromatic to full palette painting, this course slowly builds on the painting process one step at a time, one session at a time. Painting from life can be challenging, but also extremely rewarding! Color theory and color mixing—in relationship to props (objects), fabrics and light source are the foundation for this course. Beautiful paintings are made from the eye of the beholder, but they can also be made from the eye of your camera lens! In this exciting course, students will learn how to navigate the different challenges and discoveries of painting from life versus painting from an image. Using acrylic or oils, students will have the opportunity to follow along with short-run projects or produce a series of painting studies. Throughout the course, students will learn about the process of painting (both from life and images), and explore color theory, shape, shade, and line. A supply list is provided at the time of registration. No class on November 29.

JEWELRY, PRINTMAKING, AND MORE!

JEWELRY PRECIOUS METAL CLAY

All skill levels are welcome. Studio 2. Supplies included. Adults + Grades 10-12.

Explore the fascinating world of precious metal clay in this interesting, all-levels class! This revolutionary product allows you to design using a moldable material made of microscopic particles of fine silver and an organic binder to form a moldable jewelry medium. Once your creation is dried, it is fired in a jewelry kiln; the organic binder burns off, and the silver particles sinter, leaving you with a solid metal piece! No prior silversmith skills are required; all are welcome! All skill levels are welcome. Adult evening courses are open to grades 10-12. Silver materials paid directly to the instructor are estimated at $65.  No class on November 27.

Explore the wonderful world of natural dye in this fun beginner course! In Natural Dye 101, students will learn about the process of dyeing fibers and fabrics with locally sourced food scraps such as onion peels and locally foraged flowers such as goldenrod. Learn about preparing a dye bath, creating surface design, and even exploring natural dyes from international plants! Some supplies are provided; an additional supply list will be provided. No class on November 25 and November 29.

PAPER QUILLING ART

If you like art, beautiful details, or crafts, you will definitely love Paper Quilling Art! Quilling is the art of rolling narrow strips of paper and then shaping them to make the most exquisite designs and sculptural paper art. Through our courses, we will take you from the basic techniques and tools to actual projects of a wide range of coasters, three-dimensional models, greeting cards, lettering, and more! A paper quilling class kit is included in the class fee; an additional supply list is provided at the time of registration.

LINOCUT POSSIBILITIES

In this 4-week introductory course, students will learn the basics of relief printmaking with linocut and explore a few of the many possibilities that can be achieved with this unique but accessible medium. Learn how to design your own handmade cards, patterns, fine art, and fabric designs! Adult evening courses are open to grades 10-12. A supply list is provided at the time of registration. No class on November 25.
