The ORANGE ART CENTER (OAC) is excited to share the Summer 2024 Art Camp enrichment programs that will engage your camper in artmaking. Each week has something new to offer; create art using nature, music, storytelling, science, movement, and more for endless possibilities. Let your imaginations run wild, and join us as we discover a whole new world of artmaking!

Campers will have a week full of artmaking but will also partake in exciting activities such as gameplay, storytime, snacktime, outdoor exploration, and making new friends. New this year: half-day camps! Art Camps are offered in two sessions at 9:00 -11:30 am and afternoons 12:30 - 3:00 pm each week.

Looking for more than half a day? Sign your camper up for both morning and afternoon sessions to receive a full day of art camp for more projects, games, and fun! Bonus: full-day sign-ups receive a supervised lunch and recess hour in between camps free of charge (applies to Orange Art Center camps only).

WEEK 1 MORNING SESSION

Move & Groove Art Camp

Move and groove your way through a week of fun art projects! During this camp, campers will make exciting works of art using movement as their primary creative tool! Using dance, yoga, and play, campers will explore fun new ways to make active art. In addition, campers will learn about famous artworks depicting movement or using movement. Art projects include kinetic (moving) sculptures, mural paintings, drawings, and more!

WEEK 1 AfterNOON SESSION

Magnificent Music Art Camp

Let the music move you and your paintbrush, too! Paint the sound of music like artist Wassily Kandinsky and make masterful artworks using musical instruments and sound! Campers will create expressive artworks in sculpture, painting, drawing, and collage with the muse of music.

WEEK 2 MORNING SESSION

Captivating Kingdoms Art Camp

Knights, princesses, and dragons, oh my! During this camp, campers will learn to create their very own magical kingdoms inspired by famous fairytales and hero stories. Each day includes playful artmaking and storytelling to elevate imagination and promote artistic skill-building! Projects will utilize painting, drawing, and assemblage through art projects, including medieval monster making, fantasy-inspired wearables, paintings, drawings, and more! No art camp on Wednesday, June 19.

WEEK 2 AfterNOON SESSION

Storytellers Art Camp

We all have stories to tell, what’s yours? In this art camp, campers will use artistic skills and mediums to evoke their inner storyteller! Using painting, drawing, and assemblage mediums, campers will explore all there is to storytelling through art projects inspired by their favorite children’s books. In addition, campers will become their storytellers by creating book illustrations, handmade puppets, and more! No art camp on Wednesday, June 19.

WEEK 3 MORNING SESSION

Awesome Archeology Art Camp

Become an archeologist this summer and create awesome ancient artwork! During this art camp, campers will travel back in time through various art projects inspired by ancient civilizations. Discover fossils, build your dinosaur skeleton, make a cave painting, and more!  In addition, campers will learn about famous ancient artworks and explore nature! Art projects include mediums such as sculpture, mural painting, drawing, and more!

WEEK 3 Afternoon SESSION

Worldly Wonders Art Camp

Grab your passports, it’s time to explore the amazing art of the world! During this travel-themed art camp, campers will be introduced to important cultural artworks and significant architectural structures around the world. Each day, students will “ visit” a different country and learn all there is to know about the famous art one can find there such as classical Italian Renaissance paintings, or even the Eiffel Tower! Art projects include mediums such as handmade sculpture, painting, drawing, and more!

WEEK 4 Morning SESSION

Spectacular Science Art Camp

Science is terrific; art is too! Explore the creative possibilities of science as a tool to make fantastic ( and colorful) works of art. Campers will use experiments using static electricity, magnets, fizzy baking soda reactions, and more, resulting in fun, engaging art explorations. In addition, campers will learn about artists who were inspired by science, outer space, and the weather when creating projects in mediums such as sculpture, painting, and collage.

WEEK 4 Afternoon SESSION

Nature Explorers Art Camp

Enjoy the outdoors and the beauty that comes with it! In this camp, campers will explore the possibilities of creating art with nature. Using inspiration from famous environmental artists such as Andy Goldsworthy, campers will discover the magical world of nature through various projects, including mediums of sculpture, collage, printmaking, and painting.

WEEK 5 MORNING SESSION

Marvelous Makers Art Camp

Let your imagination guide you! During this art camp, camps will take on the role of an artist as they explore the possibilities of an open studio! Each day, students will learn basic elements of art and design, and then use those elements to apply to self-guided projects inspired by their interests. The possibilities are endless when you are the maker! Fundamentals covered in this camp include line, creating forms, color theory, perception, and more!

WEEK 5 Afternoon SESSION

Color Explorers Art Camp

Explore all the colors of the rainbow and more! During this Camp, campers will explore color theory through a variety of color-focused art projects! Celebrate your favorite colors, create new ones, and more! Color exercises include color mixing, color matching games, and colored-themed scavenger hunts! In addition, campers will learn about famous artworks with iconic color palettes. Art projects include mediums such as printmaking, painting, drawing, and more!

WEEK 6 MORNING SESSION

Fantastic Fine Art Camp

An Orange Art Center classic! Each day, campers will learn about fine art concepts and learn all about famous fine artists and art movements in history. Using these learned skills, campers will be directed through projects that allow their artistic styles to shine! Art projects include mediums such as sculpture, painting, drawing, and more!

WEEK 6 Afternoon SESSION

Friends Forever Art Camp

Friends make the best art collaborators! During this week, campers will work together to create engaging works of art using fine art mediums of painting, drawing, and more. Using inspiration from famous fine artist duos and artwork about connection, campers will engage with one another to create a series of collaborative works. In addition, students will be encouraged to make individual works celebrating friends, family, and community.
