CERAMICS

Ceramics + Pottery Newcomers - Experienced

All skill levels are welcome. Studio 3. Adults + Grades 10-12.

8-week classes are back! In this invigorating course, beginner students learn basic wheel-throwing and hand-building ceramic techniques used to create basic pottery forms such as mugs, bowls, and dishes. Experienced students can deepen their pottery knowledge and evolve their skills through various surface designs, forms, and glazing combinations using our new glazes. No class on Friday, April 18 or Monday, May 26.

DRAWING 101

All skill levels are welcome. Studio 1. Adults 18+

Learn to draw from scratch, or delve deeper into your skills in this fun course! Learn about various drawing tools and techniques such as shading, perspective, and portraiture while gaining (or further developing) skills and confidence. Drawing is a key foundation skill that will carry throughout your artist journey! Already taken this class? Enroll in additional sessions to further develop your skills. Using the drawing skills procured in Drawing 101, you will embark on an exciting journey of drawing techniques using various drawing media such as pencil, pen, and ink! NEW! DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION

All skill levels are welcome. Studios 1. Adults + Teens 16+

This class will introduce digital illustration fundamentals, covering tricks, tips, and techniques! Experiment with creative self-expression and visual storytelling; numerous digital illustration categories will be explored such as picture books, editorials, portraiture, character design, and more! Student must bring their own iPad with an Apple Pencil and Procreate app installed (one-time fee of $13) to participate. All skill levels are welcome; beginners are encouraged!

Learning to draw begins with learning to see the world as an artist. In this introductory drawing class, foundational lessons in contour drawing, positive/negative space, texture, perspective, shading, and more are delivered in a supportive, anxiety-free environment. Instructor and artist Annie Peters uses her lifetime of acquired skills as both fine artist and teacher to create a nurturing classroom environment designed to help you connect with and foster your inner artist in order to overcome the fear of the blank page. NEW! Make your Mark: Portrait Drawing with Markers

Make your mark with bold and fun portraits through markers! New to markers? No worries! In this course, students will explore the basics of using alcohol-based markers through portraits. Students will explore a variety of techniques and learn how different papers can help students achieve the effect they want. Along with portrait drawing basics, students will explore adding their own artistic flair to their portraits through color. A supply list is provided at the time of registration.

Foundations of Watercolor

All skill levels are welcome! Studio 2. Adults 18+.

If watercolor seems challenging...be afraid no more! This class will inspire and instruct! You will learn color theory and various techniques from which to build a working foundation of watercolor as well as do some fun, experimental activities. A brief lecture about a watercolor artist will expand your knowledge of art history each session. Make watercolor Wednesday the best part of your week! PAINTING FROM LIFE

All skill levels welcome. Studio 2. Adults 18+.

Beautiful paintings come from observing the world around us. In this exciting course, students will learn to navigate the challenges of painting directly from life, capturing what they see with acrylic or oil paints. Students can choose to work on short-run projects or develop a series of painting studies. The course covers color theory, shape, shading, and line to help build strong foundational skills. This workshop will focus on floral imagery and how to recreate the blending and value that you see in a flower. The class will provide participants with the creation of their own beautifully composed painting. The class will focus on color understanding, brushwork, acrylic blending techniques, and value building. No class April 18.

JEWELRY, PRINTMAKING & MORE!

 

Silver Metal Clay Jewelry

All skill levels are welcome. Studio 4. Supplies included. Adults + Grades 10-12.

Explore the fascinating world of silver metal clay in this interesting, all-levels class! This revolutionary product allows you to design using a moldable material made of microscopic particles of fine silver and an organic binder to form a moldable jewelry medium. Once your creation is dried, it is fired in a jewelry kiln; the organic binder burns off, and the silver particles sinter, leaving you with a solid metal piece! All skill levels are welcome. Adult evening courses are open to grades 10-12. Silver materials paid directly to the instructor are estimated at $65. No class April 23.

LINOCUT POSSIBILITIES

All skill levels are welcome. Studio 2. Adults + Grades 10-12.

In this 6-week course, students will learn the basics of relief printmaking with linocut (linoleum block carving) and explore a few of the many possibilities that can be achieved with this unique but accessible form of printmaking. Learn how to design your own stamps, handmade cards, patterns and fine art! Linocut is a printmaking technique in which a design is cut or carved into the linoleum surface. Ink is then applied to the surface area that is left uncarved creating a stamp that can be printed onto paper, fabric, and a variety of other materials. Some supplies provided; an additional supply list will be provided at registration
