JACLYN RIGO

After receiving a BFA from Ohio University, with a concentration in drawing and painting, Jaclyn taught a wide range of art classes in Southern California schools eventually working her way up to become the curriculum director at The Artist Lab in Orange County, CA. After holding the position for five years, she made the move back to her hometown of Cleveland, OH to be close to family and join Northeast Ohio’s growing art community. As a lifelong educator, she enjoys seeing her students approach subjects in varying ways and believes that through making art we learn important skills such as perseverance, problem-solving, and the broadening of horizons.

Jaclyn believes that practicing a craft at any age is one of the best ways to grow appreciation for the world around us. Through her classes, she encourages students to challenge, express, and simply enjoy themselves. In her personal work, she pulls inspiration from her daily life as well as her experience in education. Using still life and floral imagery, her focus shifts between major topics of identity, sustainability, and society as a whole while paying close attention to light and color to tell a story inside her compositions.
