CATHERINE PARK

Catherine Park grew up in an artistic family in Minneapolis. Her connection with watercolor began in high school, where she had her first exhibition of her artwork. At Vassar College, she studied drawing, oil painting, and art history. After completing an MFA in creative writing at Columbia and moving to Cleveland, she dabbled in wood block and intaglio print-making. She’s a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists, as well as the Allegheny Highlands Botanical Art Society based in Pittsburgh.

In 2015 she returned to her first love, watercolor. Soon she discovered her fascination with the precision and detail of botanical art. In 2025 she received a Certificate of Botanical Art and Illustration at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh, affiliated with the American Society of Botanical Artists. The program entailed over 340 hours of coursework and a portfolio of work across several media.

Her botanical watercolor paintings have been displayed in regional and international exhibitions, including in Northeast Ohio, West Virginia, Pittsburg, and London. Most notably, her work was accepted into the Society of Botanical Artists’ annual Plantae exhibition in London in both 2022 and 2025, including her painting of a magnified columbine.
